Jaiswal and Kohli Runout at MCG
I saw one of the craziest things in cricket today at the
Third test match between Australia and India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy
which is nothing but the Boxing Day test match at MCG! as there was this big
mix-up between Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal that made everyone go crazy.
I was watching the game along with my father from the stands at MCG when
Jaiswal (he's this really young player who bats so well) hit the ball and
started running. but then everything went wrong!
The ball went straight to the skipper Pat Cummins, and he threw it super fast
like lightning! I couldn't believe how quick he was. The ball was collected
quickly by the wicketkeeper Alex Carey who dislodged the bails at the striker's
end
Both the batters ended up at the same end which is like the biggest no-no in
cricket! my coach always tells us that only one person should be at each end.
I felt really sad for Jaiswal cause he was batting so pretty before that
happened. he was hitting the ball everywhere and making it look super easy!
The worst part was that he was almost gonna get a hundred runs! Scoring a
hundred on a debut Boxing Day test match at MCG would have been a big booster
for this career, but he got out when he was eighty-two.
I and my friend Bobby were arguing about whose fault it was. I thought Virat
should have run when Jaiswal said yes, but Bobby says Jaiswal shouldn't have
called for the run.
My uncle, who used to play cricket lots, says that when you are batting and you
call for a run, the other person should trust you cause you can see the ball
better.
The crowd got really quiet when it happened, then everyone started talking
super loud about what went wrong! some people were even making funny pictures
about it on their phones.
I saw this old cricket player called Sunny (that's what they call Sunil
Gavaskar) talking on tv, and he said Virat could have made it if he ran
straight away! he knows a lot of cricket.
When me and my friends play cricket at school, we always practice running
between the wickets now? cause we don't wanna make the same mistake as the big
players did.
The best part about watching cricket is seeing even famous players make
mistakes sometimes. it shows that everybody can get confused, even if they
played hundreds of matches!
My coach says the most important thing in cricket is talking to your batting
partner properly. you gotta be super clear when you say yes or no for runs.
I think Australia got really happy after that runout happened. They were
jumping around and celebrating like they won the whole match!
Maybe next time when India plays, they'll be more careful about running between
wickets. but cricket is funny game - sometimes even the most basic things can
go wrong and make everything exciting!
