Exciting final day awaits at MCG: Test match at its vey Best
What a great day of test match cricket we witnessed today at MCG!
End of the Indian innings
Day 4 of the boxing day test match started with India trailing by 116 runs with only one wicket in Hand. Nitish Kumar Reddy resumed the day after a historical boxing day hundred. Indians could add just 11 runs to their previous day's total and were bowled out for 369 runs and Australia gained an invaluable first-innings lead of 105 runs. Nitish Kumar, having run out of partners, attempted to take on Nathan Lyon but was caught at long off, ending his extraordinary innings at 114.
Shaky start for Australia
Sam Konstas and Usman Khawaja started the Australian innings. Konstas got out cheaply this time to Bumrah. Length ball seamed into the right-hander goes through the bat and pad gap for a clean bowled. Khawaja too got out to Siraj for an absolute beauty. At lunch on Day 4, Australia were struggling at 53/2

After lunch. Slowly when the Australians were building a partnership, Steve Smith gave his wicket away trying to play with more intent, threw his bat at the wider delivery, got an outside edge and Pant took an easy catch. That really opened the gate for the Indians, especially for Jasprit Bumrah. Brought back into attack and dismissed both Travis Head and Mitchell March in one over. The wicket of Travis Head was Bumrah's 200th wicket in Test cricket. What a champion bowler, he is!
Came back again and picked up the wicket of Alex Carey Suddenly from 80/2, Australis were struggling at 91/6. Thanks to an extraordinary display of fast bowling from Jasprit Bumrah. With wickets falling at one end, Marnus Labuschagne and the captain Pat Cummins steadied the Australian innings. Marnus went on to score his 23rd half-century. Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped a couple of catches, each for Marnus, and Cummins ensured they remained not out at Tea Day 4. Australian scoreboard was 135/6 and had a second innings lead of 240.
Frustrating lower-order
Siraj dismissed the well-set Marnus Labuschagne for 70 runs shortly after tea, and Mitchell Starc followed soon after, run out for just 4 runs. Rishabh Pant showcased excellent presence of mind with a direct hit at the non-striker's end, leaving Australia reeling at 158/8. Cummins too departed after a well-made 41 and Australia was struggling at 174/9 but Nathon Lyon and Scott Boland showed great resilience and courage and took the scoreboard past 200. Both remained not out at the end of day's play and made an unbeaten stand of 54 runs.
Three results possible
With Australia lead by 334, and one wicket in hand, they will like to extend the lead as much as they can to ensure they cannot lose this test match. On the hand, Inida will look to Australis as quick as possible. If India can bowl out Australia under 350, India can go for the chase where as if Australia get a couple of wickets early that will put pressure on India. All we can say is, an exciting finish awais for us at MCG with all 3 results possible.
